I’ve come across countless articles about how side hustles are your best bet towards financial independence, and then some. It’s like the internet is one big marketing platform for a product called side hustles.
If side hustles were all that they’re touted to be, why isn’t the world just all doing side hustles? How come these conventional jobs still exist? The whole world must be mighty stupid to not see the opportunity and pounce on it.
Or, there’s more to it all than meets the eye.
I’ve been in a regular corporate job for close to ten years now, and have started to dabble into writing as a side hustle for over a year now. No matter how much I’d like to think I can pull off writing and start a few other things to replace my full-time income, the reality is I really can’t. Why?
Because there is far more to a “day job” than just the salary and a 9-to-5 routine. I still have plans to retire early after I am comfortably financially independent i.e. join the FIRE movement, but I am certain that my day job is the best and fastest way to get there. This also holds true for the majority of the population. Here’s why.
