Unpopular Fact: The World Today is Better than Ever Before
Separating evidence from emotion makes it very clear
Perspective is a very powerful thing.
There are a lot of opinions and viewpoints today, or I should say there’s a lot more opportunity to express them today than there ever was.
There have always been opinions, as long as humans have been around.
If you had a viewpoint a few decades ago, you could perhaps talk to your family about it, or your friends, or your neighbor if you were lucky. Ten people would know about what you think, and maybe two would care.
Today, if you have an opinion, all you need is to tweet about it, and possibly thousands of people might read it, hundreds might react, and a dozen may even spread it on further to another set of people.
So much information also means that you’re so overwhelmed by all you see and read, that you lose perspective.
History is easily forgotten when there is such an overload of the present. The world of the now becomes so vast that it drowns the universe of the past.
