I recall reading an article on Medium from one of the few writers I actually find giving reasonable money advice. Rocco Pendola wrote about folks who make obscene amounts of money ($300k a year in this case) and yet complain it’s not enough.

He also goes on to talk about how there is an earning-expense mismatch or a lifestyle choice that these individuals are making that is causing them to not save enough.

However, there is a bigger issue at the core of it all — that has nothing to do with financial prudence.

I steer clear from giving any financial or monetary life advice, but I will instead address the other issue that’s at play here.

Today’s youth is constantly fed with stupid advice that will never do them any good.

We live in a world where there is a constant need for external affirmation of everything we do. You hardly feel like you’ve fully enjoyed a vacation until you’ve posted an Instagram picture that gets liked by and commented on by dozens of people and more.

Your joy from food comes more from the picture you take of it before taking a bite, than the actual indulgence in the flavors and aroma of the food.
