Sologamy — The Newest Symptom of Faux-Feminism
Another trend that might catch fire just for the sake of it
My wife is far more updated on the latest trends and happenings of the world than I am, and as is often the case draws my attention to unheard-of things all the time.
Today, she told me that India was about to witness its first act of “sologamy.”
“Solo-what?” was my confused response.
A woman in India had decided to marry herself in a full-fledged Hindu marriage ceremony, including all the traditional rituals. She’d even decided to join herself on a honeymoon for two weeks.
According to her, this was an act of showing her love for herself. It isn’t that she is a loner or isn’t attracted to other individuals — in fact, she also mentions that she’s bisexual and has been in love with a man and a woman in the past, but this time she wanted to just love herself.
But she’d looked up the internet to see if there had been an act of sologamy in India and figured she might be the first one to do so in the country.
Is it, then, a common thing globally or is it a trend that’s starting to pick up? Apparently, it has been around for a while — but it’s taking a new form recently.
