My Friend Says She Has Imposter Syndrome, Here’s My Response

She’s a woman of color but doesn’t think there is a correlation

A couple of days ago, while I was at work, one of my friends sent me a message saying she thinks she has imposter syndrome.

I had read about it too, and so it intrigued me why she would think so. I did some more research (thanks Google) but the first result that shows up told me otherwise.

I decided to probe her a little to see if her observation was correct or misguided by what society had told her over the years as a result of her being a woman, and a woman of color at that.

We agreed that this case was more complicated than it seemed at the surface, and so we decided to discuss it over a phone call.
