MWC Announced the Right Winners for the Wrong Challenge
William Shakespeare beats Eminem in a rap contest
I had hoped to stay clear from writing anything about the MWC results, for the risk of sounding like a sore loser.
Then, I read an amazing piece that called out the challenge for all the right reasons, and realized I was just giving myself excuses to hide behind.
Mind you, at the time of writing this the honorable mentions are still not out and I didn’t want to go after they were announced, because being on that list or not, is irrelevant here.
My views won’t change whether or not I win that lottery.
Let us set a bit of background first
I totally missed the results, so will not assume you didn’t. They were announced on the Medium official blog and NO email alerts to participants.
So, you can tell us “oh, we are running late on results because of the overwhelming volume of entries” (paraphrased), but care for us to check your blog for the results?
Ah, so tactful!
Anyway, the winners were amazing stories and storytellers and they deserve to win a writing contest, so no issues with that at all. Deserving winners absolutely.
Now given that we have established that, what could be the issue with the challenge itself?
