I’ve Finally Got Haters — The Holy Grail of Online Content

There is no better indicator of success than this

I used to be an avid consumer of all kinds of online content before I became a creator. I was that guy who could spend hours and hours just reading through content online.

Even better, I would find it very amusing to read the comments and reactions of people on every piece.

I secretly envied the people who are able to post stuff that makes thousands of people care enough to react, comment and in turn help the content reach farther and wider.

As they say in marketing, there is no such thing as bad publicity. I don’t care if you generate positive emotions or negative, as long as they were emotions.

Invoking emotion, in my opinion, is the most powerful impact a writer can create. When I saw an article that had genuine positive comments I was jealous.

But my true envy was for the articles that generated enough anger and disagreement that people came down to personal attacks directed at the author. I almost said to myself —

“Wow! This writer is really doing something well to stir such strong emotions in the readers.”
