I’ve actually spent a cumulative 6 months over 3-4 trips which isnt insignificant. I also worked for Goldman for 12 yrs n hence my experience and conversations n understanding of the US isnt from pure heresay or google. Yet 80% Americans have never set foot outside the US and are happy to criticize the world. I recall reading an article by an American woman abt her 10 day trip to India and how India was a shithole - and about a 1000 people commenting on it - half agreeing and half calling her out. Funny bit is most of those in agreement began with “i have never been to india for those exact reasons”.

Moreover a big chunk of americans more than agree with my sentiment, yet there are some who choose to see this as a direct attack on them. Which it isn’t - but then everyone has a right to their viewpoint
