Baby Boomers are Still the Most Important Generation Alive
Millennials like me are better off admitting this data-backed fact
I am a millennial. The self-entitled kind who thinks that everything in the world revolves around them. Or, at least we like to believe that’s a fact. The media helps fuel our egos and we are pretty much convinced we rule the world.
We believe we’re the most talked-about generation that’s ever existed, and it is all for good reason. We believe it so strongly, we go and write articles on the internet about how we’re the ones that are truly changing the world for the better.
Then, one fine day, we sit down, look at the facts, and a big reality hits us — and it hits us hard. The reality is very well captured in a famous Hindi dialogue:
“Beta beta hota hai, baap baap hota hai.”
The exact translation is that a son is always a son, and a dad is always a dad. Not very inclusive, I know, as it is from decades ago — but essentially a parent will always be a parent, and a child will always be a child. The older generation will often always remain superior to the younger one, based on pure facts.
On looking at facts, I am convinced that the Baby Boomers hold all the aces — and we’ll get to what these aces are.
