A World Where “Hating Children” is OK but “Fearing Dogs” is Inhumane

When hypocrisy and bigotry finds new highs

I recently wrote a piece very humbly suggesting the need for a better word for people who choose not to have children than the current term “childfree.”

My intention was not to by any means question the childfree and their choices but to fully respect them, but to start a dialogue to perhaps find a better word for the group and the rationale behind it.

There were some people who agreed — both part of the cohort and others not part of it but philosophers and linguists who agreed that vocabulary evolve over time.

Remember when using “African American” was the politically correct word for the Black population but that was questioned and challenged — both by Black people and non-Black people who may have cared.

And we had a long, rational debate over years, and agreed that perhaps “Black” in itself is the more accurate term for a variety of reasons.

There have been tremendous levels of evolution for many socially acceptable terms in different areas including the LGBTQIA+ community (yes, that’s probably the most acceptable/inclusive term per my knowledge — and it has far evolved from the original LGBT).
