If someone were to ask me what’s the best thing that ever happened to me — I am going to have a hard time deciding between my wife and my toddler son.

Let’s say both of them for my own sake — one is highly likely to read this article, the other might one day too, so I have nothing to gain from taking sides.

Let’s talk about my wife first — or our relationship in general. We love each other to bits but that’s not to say we never fight. We do — all couples do and if they say they don’t, they’re blatant liars. We have some amazing moments together but the vast majority of our time together is spent on rather mundane stuff. The day starts with waking up, doing our own morning routines, watching our son while the other gets ready for work, and then swapping roles. Walking him to school on the way to work, spending time apart from each other at our respective workplace, getting back home tired to some more family time, dinner, and then a whole night’s sleep in the same bed — literally “sleeping” together.

Of course, during this whole time, there are romantic moments and moments to cherish — the hug when we part ways at the subway station, the endearing texts exchanged all day while discussing what groceries we need to buy, or if I checked the latest…
