Everyone loves Indian food.

There are probably two things we Indians managed to do well — produce good engineers and good masala curry.

Funny thing is, they even sound the same.

Sabz Malai, Sundar Pichai, Paneer Kadhai.

Show an aloof westerner the above three names and they’d hardly be able to pick the most well-known Indian-origin engineer from the two Indian delicacies.

It’s OK, don’t get all awkward because I made a racist joke, it seems like my Indian origin gives me the license to do so to my own kind.

No? Strange, you didn’t seem to be so concerned when Russell Peters made that same joke about Indian accents at a call center for the 100th time. Creative liberties reserved for the famous?

Anyway, back to the food.

I am now approaching 5 years of living away from India, in Hong Kong, where I interact with many Americans, Britishers, and Asian folks from different Asian countries.

I am a vegetarian. So, when we go out for a social dinner, Indian food is often a safe choice so we have enough options for everyone.
